Travel: Black Forest, Germany 2016

Next up on my Europe trip in May after Munich was exploring the Black Forest at the bottom of Germany for two and a half days. I’d read that Freiburg (a city in Baden-Württemberg) was the one of the best bases for exploring the Black Forest, so I booked an Air BnB there and booked two full day self guided tours through Black Forest Tours (which I’d highly recommend!). There’s sooo many different small cities and towns in the area, that doing one of these tours just seemed easier than trying to work out which to visit in such a …

Travel: Berlin, Germany 2016

Back in April/May I visited Germany for the first time, and visited four cities in two weeks while I was there. Berlin was first up, where I spent six days – it was such an interesting city, every neighbourhood had a different vibe and style to it, completely different to Melbourne. It didn’t even matter that I couldn’t speak German, almost everyone there spoke English so it was easy! All photos were shot with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 35mm f1.8 or Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens. If you’d like to see more you can view them on my Flickr.   …

Travel: Nagoya, Nara and Kyoto – Japan

During our visit to Japan in April, my friend and I knew we wanted to visit both Kyoto and Nara. It was cherry blossom season in Japan and we didn’t realise that everything would be booked out, so we ended up staying in Nagoya which was just under three hours from Tokyo on the Shinkansen. We arrived in Nagoya on a Tuesday afternoon, and used it as our base to do day trips to Kyoto and Nara from there over the next two days (it was just 90 minutes to Kyoto on the Shinkansen). We explored Nagoya in the short …

Travel: Fuji, Japan

During my recent trip to Japan, my friend Dave and I spent a day and a half in Fuji. We had flown in to Tokyo on the Monday, and on Tuesday morning took four trains to get to Kawaguchiko (we later realised that we could have just taken a bus directly from Shibuya). The whole train trip we were looking out for a glimpse of Mt Fuji, and when we got off the train at Kawaguchiko station we definitely didn’t expect such an amazing view. Visiting Fuji was such a great experience – we visited the Kawaguchiko Ropeway, the Fuji …

Travel: 7 Days in London

If this is the first of my travel blogs from my recent trip to England that you’re reading, you’ve picked the right one! Back in September 2014 I took a three week holiday in England (and a couple of days in Paris) for the first time. London was obviously going to be the highlight, so I started the trip with seven days in London to explore, take photos, and see as much as humanly possible. I got sick as soon as I got there (probably from the 24 hours of travel) but I didn’t let it stop me – instead …

Travel: Paris

I recently got back from a three week trip to England, and while planning it a few months back my friend Carly from London and Bonny from The Netherlands suggested that we all meet in Paris at the end of my trip! It was my first time visiting and a bit rushed, but it was great! We arrived by train on a Wednesday night and went straight to The Louvre, and spent Thursday exploring Versailles, seeing the Eiffel Tower, and going up the Arc De Triomphe and watching the sun set over Paris. Here’s some of my favourite photos from …
