Oz Comic-Con Melbourne 2015

Last week I photographed Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne for the third year in a row, this time at it’s new home of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The size of the crowd this year was overwhelming at first with Saturday being completely sold out. I spent most of the two days photographing cosplayers dressed as everyone from Game Of Thrones characters to Batman, but also made time to check out some celebrity guest panels. This was definitely the best Oz Comic-Con I’ve been to in Melbourne so far, the larger venue was alot more accommodating and it was easier …

Travel: Tokyo, Japan

I’ve saved the best for last with my recent Japan trip blogs – Tokyo! My friend and I spent six days there in April, staying in a couple of different districts (details at the end of the blog), and had such an amazing time. Based on what my friends and I did, I’ve put together a little list for everyone: TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN TOKYO 1. Head to the second level of Starbucks in Shibuya, order a coffee, and sit at the window watching the crowds at the famous Shibuya crossing (and tourists almost getting hit by cars …

Travel: Nagoya, Nara and Kyoto – Japan

During our visit to Japan in April, my friend and I knew we wanted to visit both Kyoto and Nara. It was cherry blossom season in Japan and we didn’t realise that everything would be booked out, so we ended up staying in Nagoya which was just under three hours from Tokyo on the Shinkansen. We arrived in Nagoya on a Tuesday afternoon, and used it as our base to do day trips to Kyoto and Nara from there over the next two days (it was just 90 minutes to Kyoto on the Shinkansen). We explored Nagoya in the short …

Soundwave Festival Melbourne 2015

Soundwave Festival is over for another year (so sad!), and this year I photographed both the Melbourne and Sydney legs of the festival. This year it was spread over two days, meaning that bands could play longer sets, and as a photographer it was alot easier to cover the insane amount of bands on the bill. In two days I shot 37 bands over five different stages – it was sweaty, exhausting, but as always it was amazing. My highlights to shoot were Marilyn Manson (there’s a fascination with his image that makes him so interesting to photograph), Steel Panther …

Travel: 7 Days in London

If this is the first of my travel blogs from my recent trip to England that you’re reading, you’ve picked the right one! Back in September 2014 I took a three week holiday in England (and a couple of days in Paris) for the first time. London was obviously going to be the highlight, so I started the trip with seven days in London to explore, take photos, and see as much as humanly possible. I got sick as soon as I got there (probably from the 24 hours of travel) but I didn’t let it stop me – instead …

Travel: Bristol and Bath, England

After spending three days in Cornwall I took the train to Bristol where I stayed for two days to check out the city of Bristol and also Bath. I really enjoyed my time here, Bristol was an interesting city and quite different to London, with lots of great street art to photograph. Bath had so much history, and even though it wasn’t far from Bristol it was very different too. All photos shot with my Nikon D800 and either a Nikon 35mm f1.8 or 14-24mm f2.8. If you want to see more shots you can view them on my Flickr. …
