Exhibition: Rone Empire 2019

Last week I visited Rone’s latest exhibition EMPIRE, in the Dandenong Ranges. It was so breathtakingly beautiful, so I wanted to share some of my favourite images here as a collection. EMPIRE is set amongst the decaying glory of a once-magnificent manor Burnham Beeches, in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges. EMPIRE combines art, vision, sound, light, botanical design and scent to take audiences on a hauntingly immersive multi-sensory journey into a reimagined past of a faded icon. The Burnham project reimagines the spirit of one of Victoria’s landmark mansions, not accessed since the 1980s. Through this, viewers are invited to consider what remains – …

Travel: Paris and London 2016

I went to Europe last year on this really great holiday, and completely forgot to share my photos from the last part of the trip on here – Paris and London! I added a couple of days onto the end of my Germany trip to go back and visit these two cities (I was there in 2014), because I wanted to catch some of the things I missed the previous time – mainly the Catacombs in Paris (creepy underground skulls), and the Old Operating Theatre & Museum in London (creepy old medical stuff). You can also check out my shots …

Travel: Black Forest, Germany 2016

Next up on my Europe trip in May after Munich was exploring the Black Forest at the bottom of Germany for two and a half days. I’d read that Freiburg (a city in Baden-Württemberg) was the one of the best bases for exploring the Black Forest, so I booked an Air BnB there and booked two full day self guided tours through Black Forest Tours (which I’d highly recommend!). There’s sooo many different small cities and towns in the area, that doing one of these tours just seemed easier than trying to work out which to visit in such a …

Highlights Of 2015

2015 was a pretty good year for gigs, here’s some quick stats: • I photographed 149 bands, at 18 different venues in Melbourne and Sydney • 100 of these were bands I had never shot before • I attended 36 gigs, 27 of these I photographed • I photographed 7 festivals (4 of these were music festivals) • Tour of the year for me: Smashing Pumpkins I think 2015 will always be remembered (for me anyway) as the year that Soundwave Festival ended. It was always the highlight of my year, and honestly I’m pretty upset that I don’t have …

Soundwave Festival Sydney 2015

41 bands, 5 stages, 2 days, 1 storm and 1 exhausted (but happy) photographer pretty much sums up Soundwave Festival Sydney 2015 for me. A few months back I posted a blog with my favourite shots from Soundwave Festival Melbourne, now it’s Sydney’s turn. Soundwave Festival week is always a massive one for any music photographer, but it’s so much fun – not just shooting all the bands, but running into other photographers, meeting the fans and getting to discover so many other great bands that I didn’t already know. It’s always so hard to decide which bands to shoot …
